Sony’s new shooter concord was a major failure due to lack of original IPs
The game that Sony spent eight years developing has officially been taken offline. Sony CFO Hiroki Totoki stated in an interview that PlayStation does not have enough original IPs, which led to the removal of PlayStation Concord from store shelves and the PlayStation Store. Sony also acknowledged that it lacks enough franchises, which is striking considering the company’s reputation for iconic characters. In response, Sony plans to focus on developing its own IPs in the coming years.
“Whether it’s games, movies, or anime, we don’t have that many IPs that we’ve nurtured from the beginning. We’re missing the early phase (of IP), and that’s a problem for us,” said CFO Hiroki Totoki.
